We venture up to the top of the tower to ring the dragon bell. The dragon flutters down obediently to be culled. The dragon's eye opens up another transporter and Dunban asks if I'm sure I want to progress. I choose not to so I can go after some more plunder.
Warping back to Satorl Marsh I find some Ferises and Quadwings to plunder. I now have the right parts for Replica Monado 1 so I head to Vanea for the weapon. It's a monado with marginally better attack power range; almost worth the effort.
Having reached level 79 and made sure all my team's equipment was up to scratch I headed to the transporter. Everything goes a bit surreal.
Running through space we have to kill off a few spirit faced Mechon. They are not a significant challenge. Finally we reach Zanza.
I charge in with my trusty team of Shulk, Sharla & Dunban. We seem to be able to do decent amounts of damage so his level of ??? can't be all that high! I get plenty of useful visions (which now require a B push to activate) so am able to defend his worst attacks. There are a couple of extra guardians which spooked me at first but in the end I simply ignored them to focus on the prize.
The battle splits into 3 rounds with the option to reconfigure the party in between each, I decline the offer. Zanza looks more impressive with each round but his attacks are still preventable with the help of more visions.
Eventually he is defeated and we discover the truth. Cheesy ending rolls.

Story: Complete
The new game start where you have to select the 200 or so items you want to take with you is very slow and annoying. I'm sure they could have done that better.
You have succeeded where I was nearly successful - and had S2 not been more powerful than Zanza, Shulk, Sharla and Melia, I would probably have finished it too. It turns out the power button is too inviting a button.
ReplyDeleteDoes the new game allow you to carry on from where you left off or to start again as boy in village? Need to know so that I don't miss out on the level 106, 108 & 120 characters.
Will wrestle with the handover between games when I get to it.
Love, love, love the song Beyond the Sky.
Can't believe you called it cheesy!
I am shocked, I say, shocked!
Other M was easier than this...and you handed it back unfinished. What's that about?
New game starts back at the beginning but with your level and lots of equipment carried over. I have both new game and pre-zanza saves.
DeleteAre you sure there are level 100+ characters?
The ending is cheesy, not the music.
Other M was simply not compelling enough. Xenoblade kept me wanting more.
I'm so glad you loved it. It's unlike any game I've played. Not waiting my turn in combat - that's a neat change. Exploring all the wonderful nooks and crannies - they're fantastic. Having a wonderful set of characters to choose from and some tough enemies to battle - they're the best.
ReplyDeleteOn the beach where you found water for Fiora - Ancient Daedalus is a level 108 Mechon
Satori Marsh, around the middle near the hermit's cave - a bunny that's level 108
However, somewhere there is an optional enemy level 120. I believe that's the highest level in the game.
Maybe sort them all out before you give it back?
