"Dunban! Woah, yeah!" - Reyn
Well, that was an eventful 45 minutes.
A quick little break-topple fight with some mini-mechon before Dunban turns up with the Monado. Then I get a fun romp through the colony slicing up Mechon and gaining some EXP.
I was playing as Reyn but now that Shulk has the Monado I've switched to him. I'd just worked out how to chain arts when the tutorial popped up telling me that I needed to chain to defeat Metal-Face. So that worked out well.
Oh, and Fiora died.
Then the Mechon leave and the Colony is back to mormal, with people still worrying about lost wedding rings and the like, and nobody important died. I played around with some gem-crafting before I finished playing.
Plot hole: If the Mechon have such good ranged weapons why is the Monado a problem?

Fiora! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
ReplyDeleteAll that time getting her new clothes and experience and weapons and she goes out in a damp squib of glory. Fiora was important to me; I wanted to redo the battle with the metal-face, but it took me SO MANY ATTEMPTS I just had to say goodbye to her.
The Mechon have great weapons but are always looking into the camera and endlessly talking about feeble homs. They never really let loose with a volley until a battle sequence with shiny green walls turn up.
Don't knock the lack of firing - there are some overly-powerful enemies to come. The ones with dots below their names can summon support and the ones with swirly patterns by their names seem to be twice as tough - something I was never really told about.
There's colour up in the names box too. From what I can tell it corresponds to TNG shirt colours, but I'm not sure of the significance of the medical and science officers.
You'd better be playing in Japanese; the English accents are awful. Nothing beats a bit of Dickson-san and shaddoh eye and streeeeeem edge and co-lo-nee nine.
I calculated that instead of taking 2 years to finish it, you would take 31 weeks. Now that you've played 3.75 hours I've had to recalculate it.
You'll take less time now.
25 weeks.
Chron-on!
Surely Fiora had to die, for the story? I don't see how redoing the battle would save her? And wasn't the Metal-Face battle fairly simple? It pops up and tells you how to win, and you only have to knock off half its HP.
ReplyDeleteWhen Shulk said something along the lines of, "I should have saved her" I thought maybe I could have saved her by being better in the battle, getting behind metal-face, or defeating him completely. As it was, I couldn't get the hang of the chain early on. Every time I approached three blue bars I needed to get someone up off the floor (usually Dunban)
ReplyDeleteI struggled on and on and nearly stopped playing the game at this point. This also happened later with bigger, meaner, less-human-face-looking face-mechon.
